2017 Convention Hands-On Seminars:
All hands-on seminars are limited to 10 members. Each seminar is $100 per day unless listed. The first 10 paid will be in the seminar. You can now pay by Visa or Master Card. Others interested will be put on a waiting/cancelation list.

ALL DAY BIRD MOUNTING HANDS-ON SEMINAR
Wednesday afternoon – all day Thursday
March 15 & 16, 2017
This will be an in-depth, two day, bird taxidermy seminar. It will be limited to 6 or 7 participants, allowing good one-on-one time. All phases of bird taxidermy will be covered, focusing on manikin making and mounting of your bird. Materials for carving bodies and wrapping necks will be provided. Students will supply their own prepped bird skin and be guided through the form making and mounting process. A “what to bring” list, “how to prep” instruction, and two-day schedule will be sent to each student. The seminar will also cover proper skinning, fleshing and washing techniques as well as anatomy, flying positions and finishing techniques.
MOUNTING A COYOTE SHOULDER PEDESTAL HANDS-ON SEMINAR
Friday – March 17, 2017

This workshop will combine reference study and mounting techniques. It will include elements from two of Billy’s classes, “Work Smarter not Harder” and “Things Concerning Mammals”. From these he will discuss eyes, ears, nose, symmetry and though they are not part of this mount…feet. All that is discussed will help you with both your customer and competition efforts.
This is an all day workshop and will be conducted in two segments. The morning segment will be skin and manikin preparation including reference study. The evening segment will be mounting the Coyote shoulder pedestal and attaching it to the base. There will be a vast amount of information covered in each segment that can be applied to your mammal taxidermy efforts of any specie. Be prepared to take notes. This workshop is limited to 10 students at a cost of $150.
What is provided: Manikin, Cape, Base, Eyes, Ear liners and Glue.
What you need to bring: All tools you normally use to mount a Coyote.
Completed mounts will be the students to take home.
FORM ALTERATIONS HANDS-ON SEMINAR

Form alterations for competition including detaching legs. Using a straight cut seam. Participants will bring a tanned skin and form to alter and make interlocking limbs for. Kurt will supply more information and answer questions before the seminar on how to skin and prepare for the day.
MOUNTING TURKEYS – FREE THURSDAY ALL DAY SEMINAR

This is a must-see seminar if you mount birds……. especially Turkeys. Tim will show his award-winning techniques. As a National Champion, Tim brings a lot of knowledge to share with our members. He also has his own line of turkey bodies he has sculpted.
